Hello Subsnax readers and lovers of snacks,
It’s time for Snack Attack, the feature where I periodically round up some information about new and noteworthy snacks.
I was hoping to report back from the Fancy Food Show in New York City, but unfortunately, I had an emergency and was unable to attend. Hopefully, next year I can go!
Best Snacks
Good Housekeeping has a nice gathering of delicious snacks in their Good Housekeeping’s 2023 Best Snack Awards. I see some old favorites in there (including most of the fruits in the Powerhouse Produce category, Chomps turkey jerky sticks, and Barnana Organic Plantain Scoops) as well as some snacks I haven’t tried yet. It’s a great list!
Vegan Updates
I didn’t grow up eating Taco Bell — not out of snobbery, but because there weren’t any in the suburban New York area where I lived. Perhaps not surprisingly given their love of spicy foods, my husband and son are Taco Bell fans. Anyway, Taco Bell recently announced that their “Iconic” Crunchwrap is now available as a vegan version. I’m not a vegan, but as someone with a lot of digestive issues who is lactose intolerant and doesn’t eat beef, I always appreciate a vegan option! Unfortunately, it’s only for a limited time, at a very limited number of locations, including Los Angeles (6741 Hollywood Blvd, Hollywood, CA 90028), New York City (976 6th Ave, New York, NY 10018) and Orlando (11893 East Colonial Dr, Orlando, FL 32826).
In other vegan-related news, Kraft has announced that they’re launching new vegan Kraft NotCheese Slices in three flavors nationwide. They’ll be available in American, Cheddar, and Provolone flavors. I think these would be nice on top of a Beyond or Impossible burger.
Girl Snack Dinner
The New York Times has reported that people are eating snacks for dinner and the trend — which is not exactly new — is now being called “Girl Dinner.” Hmm. Okay, then.
Got a new snack you’d like me to write about? Let me know!

Have you subscribed yet? As an old-school pizzeria in Brooklyn once said to me the first time I ordered a pizza from them, “Where you been?”
Would you like to buy me a virtual coffee to go with my snacks?
